Kevin Update #5

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (January 13, 2010)

Snowboarder Kevin Pearce (Norwich, VT) is continuing to recover at the University of Utah Hospital. He consistently encourages his doctors and family with the strides he is making.

Elaine Skalabrin, MD, Medical Director, Neuro Critical Care, and one of Kevin’s doctors, states, “Kevin continues to improve and is actively participating in his therapies. He is making progress on a daily basis.”

Pia and Simon Pearce, Kevin’s parents, have been by Kevin’s side at the hospital since his arrival. They would like to share: “ We cannot say enough good things about the doctors, nurses, and support staff here at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. They have shown Kevin and our family the best of what modern medicine can offer and have been completely caring and supportive throughout this entire process. We extend our heartfelt appreciation and admiration to everyone involved Kevin’s recovery.”

Kevin Update #4

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (January 6, 2010)

Although snowboarder Kevin Pearce has a long recovery ahead of him, his doctors are "cautiously" optimistic given his current progress. Kevin has been upgraded from critical to serious condition according to his doctors at at the University of Utah Hospital and this is a very big step in Kevin’s recovery process.

One of Kevin’s doctors, Holly Ledyard, M.D., a Neurointensivist (a physicianwith specialized education and training in critical neurological conditions) at University of Utah Health Care remains positive about Kevin’s condition, “Kevin is in serious condition and remains in intensive care at University of Utah Hospital. We’ve been able to remove his breathing tube, and he is slowly regaining consciousness and able to follow commands. While we’re pleased that he’s improving faster than anticipated, he still has a long recovery ahead of him.”

With this news Kevin’s family remains optimistic and grateful for all of the support being shown by his doctors, nurses, friends, family and fans from all over the world. Parents statement – January 3, 2010

"We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from Kevin's friends, family, and fans from every corner of the world. We thank each and every one of you for your kind thoughts, messages and prayers. We would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Kevin's doctors and nurses for all they have done and all they continue to do.
